Team Shell Jersey Pickup and Swap

The jersey, vest and arm warmer distribution dates/locations are as follows:

• Sunday Jan 17, 5:00 PM, immediately after safety training at Shell Woodcreek.

• Monday Jan 25, , 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM, at Shell Woodcreek main lobby.

• Wednesday Jan 27, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM, at One Shell Plaza main lobby.

• Sunday February 21, 5:00 PM, immediately after safety training at Shell Woodcreek.

• Saturday Feb 27, 7:00 AM, at the Team Annual Ride, Katy Mills Sun & Ski.

• Sunday March 21, 5:00 PM, immediately after safety training at Shell Woodcreek.

• Thursday, March 25, Team Shell Packet Pickup - OSP Auditorium, Thursday, March 25, 11 AM - 1 PM

• Friday April 16, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, by the team luggage truck at Shell Woodcreek.

• Saturday April 17, 5:30 - 6:00 AM, at Shell Woodcreek prior to the start.

Additionally, Team Shell members can pickup their jersey at Afif's office at Woodcreek Room 6428, BUT YOU NEED TO CONTACT HIM IN ADVANCE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.

We want everyone to be happy with their team gear!  Therefore, an online swap process has been set up.

1. Swap your jersey, wind vest, or arm warmers for a different size,

2. Sell your vest and arm warmers (not the jersey) in the event a swap is not available, or

3. Express interest in buying someone else's wind vest or arm warmers (not jersey) if a match is available.

• Your team is invited to each of our monthly Basic Bicycle Maintenance clinics. This is an introductory class on how to keep your bicycle in good working condition. Packet Pick-Up

Your MS150 Packet contains your bib number (which you must wear during the ride), luggage tags, MS150 weekend information, meal wrist-band, route maps; etc. and must be picked up prior to the ride.

In view of our past fundraising achievements Team Shell again has a private Packet Pick Up exclusively for our riders:

Date/Time: Thursday, March 25, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
Location: One Shell Plaza Auditorium, downtown Houston, next to Murphy's Deli in the tunnel.

Note that you must have a signed MS150 waiver form before you can collect your packet. For the waiver form CLICK HERE. Picking up packets for friends and/or family members is allowed, but you must also bring along their signed waivers. The National MS Society is very strict about this rule, don't test them. Riders under the age of 18 must have a Waiver Form signed by a parent or guardian and NOTARIZED. Please do this in advance as notary services will NOT be available at any of the packet pick-up sites.

Site Focal Points for locations away from downtown Houston area are encouraged to coordinate packet pick-up for their sites.  This requires you to collect signed waivers from your local riders, pick up the packets at OSP or one of the public distribution sites, then organize their distribution at your site.

Additionally for the top fundraisers in 2009, there will be special packet pickup events and the NMSS will send invitations to these fundraisers.

Bike Safety Inspections

Free bicycle safety inspections are now available from February 15 through April 9 at all BP MS 150 Official Bike Stores.  Starting April 10, inspections will cost $15 each. So plan to get your bike inspected early. Bikes that pass get a safety inspection sticker, which entitles riders to free labor for repairs during the MS 150 ride.

Communications

The main line of communications to Team Shell Members will be via Email with newsletters and notes on specific topics. Information of a relatively permanent nature will be posted on this website which is integrated with the Team Shell Yahoo e-Group site where members can readily post information and messages as discussed below. The Team Shell organizing committee can be contacted by Email at: shellcyclingteam@shell.com

A Yahoo e-Group site was setup for Team Shell in 2006. This will continue to play an important role for Team Shell communications in 2008. While joining this group is not mandatory, this is a great way to interact with your teammates. If you have not used an e-Group before, it offers some of the following features:

• Messages – instead of giving out everyone’s e-mail address, e-groups allows you to post messages.  Members can control how they receive messages.  You can receive each message, receive a daily summary or not receive any messages.  The messages will be kept on the group site and can be retrieved or searched later. 
• Files – files can be loaded and shared
• Photos – members can load their photos that they would like to share.  You are encouraged to look at team photos from past years.
• Links – Have a useful link that you would like to share, post it in the link section.
• Database – A great place to store useful information
• Polls – Survey says!  A fun way to ask your team mates their opinion.
• Calendar – Want the group to remember something, put on the calendar.

You will receive an invitation to join shortly. Give it a try, you will like it.  If you don’t like it, then you can withdraw from the group. You can also join by sending an e-mail to TeamShell-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.  The website can be accessed at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/TeamShell/. When you click on the link you will be prompted for a user ID and password. If you have preciously registered remember your ID and password you are good to go. Please note that if you have been blocked from the website at work, then you may want to access it from you home using your personal e-mail account.
