Shell shatters another record! Our
2009 MS150 team will be 410 riders strong. We are very
excited to have you on the team and look forward to
another record fundraising year.
Due
to the significant team growth this year, our team
budget is no longer adequate to cover a free team
jersey or free massage in LaGrange. Details about
ordering a team jersey will be communicated shortly and
we will continue to have massage therapists at the Shell
tent in LaGrange and Austin, albeit for the normal rate
of $1/minute. Note that the 2009 jersey will be
the same as that of 2008.
All
the other team perks will continue to be available free
of cost to team members, including
Bellville/LaGrange/Austin tents, private packet pick-up,
private team start from Woodcreek, luggage
transportation from Houston to LaGrange/Austin, food and
refreshments, shuttle service from Tully stadium to
Woodcreek, ability to sign-up for the 12-week CP
training series, special team discounts at local bike
shops, and much more... |

CP
Training Series |
|
Team
Shell is one of a few teams that take part in
the annual MS150
CP training series. The
series consists of 12 weeks of training rides,
fully supported with rest stops and SAG vehicles. The
routes vary each Saturday, with two or more mileage
options available each
week. If you
are a beginner, you also get 2 BONUS weeks to get you
accustomed to cycling on roads and to feel comfortable
on your bicycle. The 12-week series is an excellent way
to prepare for the MS150. You'll cover flat terrain to
gentle rolling hills to some pretty challenging climbs
progressively as you build your endurance and muscles.
Registration
instructions will be coming shortly.

Safety
Corner |
Safety is
our top priority. Our goal is to complete the 2009
training series and
MS150 ride with Zero
Incidents.
In 2008, our safety record earned us the prestigious
Gold Safety Award, but we can and will do better in
2009.The safety
committee is
currently reviewing the team roster to determine the
number, dates, and locations of on-bike safety training
sessions that we will offer for the 2009 MS150. Details
regarding our safety training and mandatory safety
requirements will be announced in the coming weeks.

Fundraising |
Team
Shell is a proud supporter of the National MS Society
and its Lone Star Chapter.
The MS150 ride
raises more money for finding a cure for MS
than any other event in the country.
In 2008, Team
Shell raised
approximately $272,000
which propelled us into the elite Million
Dollar Club consisting of less than a dozen
teams that have raised more than one million dollars
over the last 10 years.
Although you pledged to raise a minimum of
$400/rider when you
registered with the MS Society, Team Shell urges
all its members to beat our 2008 average of $856/rider!
So it's time to get your fundraising campaigns
underway, don't wait until the last minute.
