Captain's
Corner |
After
what I told you early last week about the weather
forecast for Saturday's team ride, you will be comforted
to know that I will no longer be in the business of
predicting weather!
For
those who braved the 25mph wind and the morning chill,
thank you for joining us for what turned out to be a
magnificent ride. I for one enjoyed it thoroughly and
was delighted by the large turn out. We had
approximately 135 people including our fabulous
volunteers who made it all work without a glitch. Check
out the ride photos on our
website.
I want
to reach out to those who have not yet met their safety
training requirements and ask you to please attend
the last class we are offering this Sunday (see Safety
Corner for details).

CP
Training Series |
|

As
Steve M. puts it, this week’s ride will continue our
forays out into the rolling hills. This will be our
third, and final week of the gently rolling routes -
next week, you will learn the names of a few hills. Ride
distances are 32 or 51 miles. We'll be starting in New
Waverly and riding up to the south edge of
Huntsville. This is one of our longest drives to the
start of the ride so everyone needs to leave early
enough to allow plenty of time to park, sign in, and get
ready to roll. Remember - We are going to a small town
so you need to carpool.
Remember to check the official CP website
for directions and up to the
minute ride details.

On-Bike
Training: The last Shell offered on-bike
safety training class will be on Sunday March 8,
2:00-4:00pm. It
will be held at Rice
University in the northwest corner of the Stadium
parking lot located on Greenbriar between Rice Blvd and
University Blvd. Registration is available
here.
Please note that the
START Time is 2:00 PM. This is "Ready to Ride" time, not
arrival time. Please plan to arrive early and allow time
to unload your bike, get your helmet on and be ready to
start by 2:00. Late arrivers will miss important Safety
information and may not be permitted to continue with
the on bike training. Call Alan Bazard at 713-907-2866
if you have questions.
Bike
Inspections: Bike inspections began on
February 15th. Be sure to visit one of the MS150
Official
Bike Stores to get
your bike inspected. Bike inspections are free until
April 11th.
MS150 Safety
Zone: Safety isn't just about wearing your
cycling helmet and knowing the rules of the road.
Those are very important measures, but cycling safety
involves much more. Bike safety includes a wide
variety of topics, such as hydration, bike maintenance
and cycling etiquette, just to name a few. We
encourage you to visit the National MS Society's newly
launched
Safety Zone to learn
more.
Our goal is to achieve 100% compliance. We're
counting on you to do your part.
